Koudai

Koudai is the part of bottom which touched with ground. It supports work from under ,so to keep firmly or not is depend on koudai. Koudais have verious patterns. Coloring

What makes the color of pottery so vivid  and light? It depends on a glaze. Glazing is to cover the surface of works with  thick glaze. So many things can be used as the ingredients of glaze and each items and its ratio are very important  to decide the color of works.

In Japan, those who make ceramic art the main jobs are called a potter.

Molding is one of important process in making pottery. If better and better molding is done, the work is closer and closer to shape you want to make. There are mainly three molding ways.

  The method of tebineri is the easiest method. However, what can be made can make a work not only with a simple thing but interesting high flexibility. By the method of accumulating a rope, it is fit for creating like a flower vase with height, and a jar. There are not few works made by tebineri and it used when drinking a  green tea.  It is a method which suits well also in the rough style of the Tohoku district.

  The method of combining a clayey board is also ｆamous. Although used in European modernistic work  in many cases, the young Japanese modern work is also used repeatedly.

The method using a potter's wheel is a method loved by most many people.

Although the work place is restricted, if it gets used, it can make many elaborate works more.

Now, although an electric potter's wheel is most, it is made to rotate using a leg and makes from a traditional traditional process.
